Solve : alternative for Open Office??

Answer»

I have Open OFFICE which I rarely use. Am WONDERING if there's a smaller version of MSWord or Open Office. If I choose to go with a another program, would I still be able to open the few documents I have composed with OO?
I am running Windows XP. Thank you for any suggestions you MAY give.

Acornso if there's a smaller version of OO, you would still use it? From what I'm seeing, you're limited to OpenOffice or MS Office for a free office suite for Windows.
And as regards file types, you will be able to open MS file types with alternative office suites, so save as those types if you switch. Thanks for your replies Calcum & ghostdog74. Took a look at that Portable OO & that sill isn't what I want or need. I should explain further that I prefer a program w/o all the bells & whistles. Is there such a program or application or whatever? I do make phone & address LISTS...can't think of anything else I use OO for. I'm retired so don't I don't require a mega set-up. Thanks again.

If the main focus here is on word processing, take a look at AbiWord. I like notepad++ for simple word processing and editing simple scripts. Super small but not shy on features.
