Answer» I am trying to copy an email with hypertext links to an excel spreadsheet. The copy can paste ok, but the hyperlinks do not show up....you can see the www.--- but the hot link (is this the correct terminology) does'nt appear...
Thank youWhen PASTING to the Excel Spreadsheet, see if there is an option to Paste Special, as opposed to just Paste.I believe, by default, Excel should paste with the content with the links active. That's what I'm seeing here with Excel 2003.
Try this, copy the content from the email message. Then, in Excel, go to EDIT, Paste Special, and select HTML (if shown). Did that work? When I go to paste special, I have two choices, either unicode text or plain text, and I do not see ANYTHING allowing me to paste HTML...I am using excel 2002
ThanksIf you use Paste Special as plain text...does the link appear or not...and is it hyperlinked?Go to Excel's Help and search for copy or move HYPERLINK. Find it? Anything helpful there? The link appears but is not hyperlinked...I don't see any help from microsoft, or I'm not entering the right search question
Thank youWhat are you using for an email client? What happens when you click on a hyperlink in your email? Can you copy hypertext from a web page to Excel, and have it remain a hyperlink?
I believe the fact that you don't see HTML as an option for Paste Special indicates Excel or your Windows system is not recognizing the copied text as HTML/hyperlink. Here's what I mean. I use Outlook Express. I have it set to recognize HTML email. If I copy from it directly to Excel, Paste Special gives me three options: HTML, Unicode, and Text. But, if I copy the text to Notepad, which removes all formatting, and then copy and paste from Notepad, Excel only shows Unicode and Text. Excel has already recognized that HTML isn't needed as a choice because what I'm copying is not HTML (which APPLIES to hypertext, i.e., hyperlinks). See what I mean?
