Does the video capture stuff do standard formats of you contry? Most PC stuff is NTSC and some places use PAL. But that is not you problem, -Right
Your VCR has a S-video out? Does it have to 'RCA' jacks, one yellow, one read? What if you put your TV set on AUX or LINE and run the patch cable from the VCR to the TV? You should have signal.
You can not use the RG cable output from the VCR unless you video capture device has a TV tuner. Or you video card does. The VCR will be on chan 3 or 4, except in other places it has to be a UHF. (UK I think.)
Give some details about how the video capture device works. hi there,as you guessed i am in uk. when i put film in vhs carrier it plays fine through tv
i have sucessfully DOWNLOADED some smaller mm films using the camera that they were shot on ,however my older films the ones im having trouble with were taken on an older camera that i no longer have
the ezcap device consists of usb-then small unit containing works-then three cables
1 red and 1 yellow male dins and 1 ROUND 8 pin plug.
i am a complete novice and really have no idea as to what to do next.you are my only hope, please stay with me...pleasehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL
The may be part of the problem. There are three major video standards in the world. See map above. Let me see if I now understand.
1. You can capture stuff from your VCR using the device. 2. You have small tapes that play on an older camera. 3. The camera output does not activate the USB device. 4. But Telly never had a problem the old camera.
May I assume that you did copy to old tapes onto VHS so that you would not need that old camera anymore. And the VHS copies seem to be good on the TV. It is only when you try to send the VHS copies to the USB device you get the message "no signal".
Here is my first guess. My guess is the camera was from the states and uses the format used here in the USA. Both the Telly and the VHS machine know how to do the conversion.
If I am near right, the USB device must have an option to read the USA format. It is getting the signal, it is just confused because the scan and farm and even the polarity are different! And, yes thee are even variations in the PAL format, and that also makes for some confusion.
If I guessed wrong, come back and we shall have a go at it.
Quote Does it have to 'RCA' jacks, one yellow, one read? Does it have two 'RCA' jacks, one yellow, one red?
QuoteRG cable output RF
Sometimes speech recognition is a dumb way to input stuff. This is one of those times. As you should know. Or can you just not spell?
QuoteRG cable output The black cable on the back of the VCR that does VHF is somtimes called RG-59 cable. But that old cable type is not longer in common use. Any old crow like me can only recall the old slang expressions. I called it RG because I con not remember if it was RG-58 or RG-59 so I said RG.
Actually today the Speech WRECK THING is down. Thanks to Windows updates, or something. So I am back to using my beak to find the letters on the keyboard. I think I was faster on Morse Code.
Back to topic. What do you know about NTSC ro PAL conversions for USB video capture devices? If he is in the UK his VCR will be PAL. If he bought the capture device in the same country, then it will accept PAL input. If not: oh dear!
QuoteQ: Which lead do I need? A:
* If your player features a set of three red, yellow and white jacks at the back of the unit then you will need a RGB to RGB lead to connect the Easy Capture to your computer
* If your player features a Scart socket at the back of the unit then you will need a RGB to Scart lead to connect the Easy Capture to your computer
