Answer» Okay my questions are a pain in the *censored*. Here it goes. Most of us know about nero alcohol deamon tools ect. If you don't know what those are then more than likely you may not be able to respond to this, not in anyway meaning to be rude, yes they emulate the drives which you mount your isos and many other formats of virtual cd's / dvd's. Certain games, in my case civilization 4 wont play unless you have the cd in. To me thats a pain. I perfer to make ISO files and mount them. Why are games able to read these disks and tell if they are fake or not?
If this is simply a matter of it looking at the pc and it saying hey this is a fake drive is it possible (going out there unlike my last question that I knew was very much possible) to mount an image itself on a regular drive without anything being in the drive. If spun up have it send a false positive ect. Granted for things like this there are cracks ect. I'd rather insert the disk instead of getting a virus. Perhaps a virtual cd rw that reverts the command codes to the location of the iso files or what? Unless I'm wrong in why they won't be read completely. But im talking about using some of the most advanced DVD and CD Copying software out there. Thank you for your time and your input ill be standing by.Sorry as i was going through this i SAW i may not have been perfectly clear umm what i mean is no cd "drive" emulation simply loading isos into your drive that exists without a cd.... Yeah... sounds stupid to some of yall prob does to me too. There are freeware apps that will do this...INCLUDING Alcohol 52%
Stop by majorgeeks.com or check the link in Rob's sig...I just noticed you already mentioned free alternatives in another thread that is older than this ?
My question would be why ask queastions you already have the answers to ? ?I'm not SURE what you're asking. He wants to load an .iso (the worst possible disc image?) onto a PHYSICAL optical drive using software. That way, the "disc is in the drive" and the drive would physically spin, but he doesn't have to actually have the disc.
Sounds like it wouldn't work. I'd like it to, though, since Blackhawk Down won't play without my disc in.
-rockActually he's talking about setting up a virtual drive on the HDD to run a CD program... This is what Daemon Tools and the like are designed to do.sorry i have been busy for a while. I've been working 16 hour days for several days straight. Okay most of you are thinking im asking for something like deamon tools and alcohol 120 or 52 ect. I have used those programs since they have came out i know what those are. Rockerest is the CLOSEST one to understanding what i mean. There are several games that i own including TITAN Quest that need the actual DVD in the drive. If you make an ISO file and you run it it will not work because of the fact that it looks to see if it is a real DVD or CD drive or an emulated drive. Im not looking to make my cd rom drive sit there and spin with nothing in it while really reading an iso file. What im looking for is basically masking software that would make your pc really truely not be able to tell the diff between it being a CD/DVD drive or an emulated Drive. Does anyone have any ideas on where to start.
