Solve : Any suggestions?? |
Answer» Do you know of a software program that will pronounce words for you either free or purchase? I know there are web sites I can go to but I'm not always online in fact, I'm off more than on but my computer is on and I just wanted a program that would do this for me. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your time!Do you mean read text out loud or just pronounce specific words? There are any number of dictionaries that will pronounce the words for you. Otherwise you can Google "text to speech" for text readers.Quote from: Allan on May 10, 2010, 01:51:21 PM Do you mean read text out loud or just pronounce specific words? I just want something that I can use WITHOUT having to get online to do it.http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1T4GGLL_enUS304US305&q=download+dictionary+with+sound&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=Quote from: Allan on May 10, 2010, 04:08:00 PM http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1T4GGLL_enUS304US305&q=download+dictionary+with+sound&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=Thanks Allan for your help. I had searched online before I posted here and the results were plentiful. I was hoping someone could RECOMMEND one that they had used. Have you used any of these?I use the standalone dictionary that is bundled with Encarta.Quote from: Allan on May 10, 2010, 04:41:02 PM I use the standalone dictionary that is bundled with Encarta. How do I get that? Is it still available?I believe MS discontinued Encarta. You can check these links and see if any of them are for the stand alone version: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1T4GGLL_enUS304US305&q=encarta+dictionary+download&aq=f&aqi=g3g-m2&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. I found exactly what I want. It is a free program, WordWeb, and it works great! It gives the definition, synonyms, and pronounces the WORD. It has good reviews and I can see why. Thanks again for your time!Quote from: Kath2 on May 11, 2010, 06:19:08 AM Thanks everyoneQuote from: Allan on May 11, 2010, 06:21:59 AM I do apologize Allan. You were the only one helping me.
