Answer» Hey... Has anyone here worked with Bart PE to know how to add Norton Antivirus to its build? If you dont know what Bart PE is you might not be able to answer my question, but here is what it is in case it is new to you and of interest; it is a tool to make Live Bootable CD's of Windows XP. So that the system can be booted from the bootable CD or DVD like a system emergency boot disk, but with write protection.
The tool is supposed to allow you to add PROGRAMS, grab them, from your system and build a working live CD for your hardware that boots off the CD or DVD and allows for read-only data access from CD or DVD.
I've tried about 4 burns without being able to get the Norton Antivirus to work on it. You can see it in the Start, Programs, Symantec Norton AV, but when selecting it, the CD spins up and nothing....
Maybe I am missing something, but Bart PE website doesnt show any Red Flags for Norton AV being incompatable etc...
Maybe I should try a different AV Utility due to an incompatability with Bart PE and Norton AV, since Norton is meant to be run from a hard drive and not a virtual space in RAM which acts as a Hard Drive.
BTW: I have 1GB of RAM, so it should be PLENTY...

Thanks... :-? :-?I would try AVG and ditch Norton in a heartbeat...
Avast has a free AV as well but i prefer AVG.I think a for a program to work in PE it has to be somewhat portable... that is to say the program will work without being installed or you can copy the installed failes and it happens to run(not likely 1-100)... you should read more about it in help there is a lot of help.... also there is alot of half installed programs that you only need to download specified files and add to certain folders for them to work....
Alternatively you can make a simple PE cd and use a flash drive or usb hdd with portable programs...Below is the plugin to add AVG Free to your build...
HereThanks for all the help ... will add AVG to the build and see if that works vs Norton [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
