Answer»

Hi everyone. I am new to this site and dont know if i posted this in the wright section.

this is the problem that i have, when ever i try to install a GAME or a program through the CD-rom or a downloaded program or game a blue screen turns on and said atapi.sys- beggining dump of physical memory. that wasnt the only thing that was writen but i dont remember the other stuff.

the same thing happens when i turn on disk defragmenter, but it doesnt say atapi.sys instead it SAYS ntfs.sys

can someone please help me!!!

thanks !!!You have some corrupted system files on that machine...once we find out what flavor of WINDOWS you are running we can ASSIST further.i have windows xp profesionalGo to Start / Run and TYPE in sfc /scannow and hit Enter...have your XP CD handy as it will ask for it.

Re-boot when it finishes and see if this clears things up...

Is SP2 installed ? ?i have a problem. i dont have the windows xp profesional CD. when i bought my computer it had windows xp home edition. then a few years later my computer broke,it didnt even turn on. so we gave the computer to my dads friend and he fixed it but he installed windows xp profesional, and now i cant do anything.Everyone needs a Windows CD...i wonder how he got around the registration process.
