Answer» Ok so awhile back i had this headset HTTP://www.turtlebeach.com/products/legacy-products/ear-force-x11.aspx and it broke so i got a one which worked fine until it broke. So now my brother had the same headset http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/legacy-products/ear-force-x11.aspx , which he gave to me. But it does not work, neither does my iphone headphones and speakers. So i went looking all over the net trying to look for a solution.
I have downloaded this http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-58189-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=2093&product=3445434&sw_lang= Nothing happened... I have downloaded this http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#High Definition Audio Codecs Nothing happened...
When i say nothing happened, I mean it downloaded great and then it told me to restart my computer. After i restarted my computer it was like i didn't do anything...
Here is a screenshot of what i think could be usefull to you guys.
I run, Vista 32bit Welcome to CH! What model computer do you have? Or is it custom? Download Everest Free at http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html. Find the audio section, and post a screenshot.
thomasthexpuserOP has a Realtek ALC888S audio chipset on a ASUS IPIBL-LA G33 chipset motherboard (HP Pavilion a6152n)
The "AMD High Definition" device installed is related to the HDMI output on the graphics card, and has nothing to do with the Realtek onboard chipset. It MIGHT just be just a fluke; Windows may be recognizing it as the default audio output device.
Boot into safe mode, uninstall the Realtek drivers and control panel, then boot back into Windows NORMALLY and reinstall them. Make sure you didn't download the drivers for another operating system.
Quick thought: I notice the Realtek sound chipset isn't even showing in Device MANAGER. Your computer isn't even acknowledging that it exists. Get into your BIOS and make sure onboard sound is enabled. If it lists "AUTO" and "ENABLED" as options pick "ENABLED"
