Solve : Audio not working :/?

Answer»

Hi,

I just reformated my whole hard drive and i've been working on my COMPUTER for a while after this, but since everything has been all messed up I FORGOT to install my speakers, and when I connect them with the computer, nothing. Any ideas what it can be?

I'm running Windows XP on a Dell Dimension E521

Before I reformated my computer, I had the same components as now and it all worked fine on XP.

On my DRIVES list I have a PCI device that I cant install.

On my drives list I have a PCI device that I cant install.
Listed under "Unknown devices? Does it have yellow "?", or "!" mark next to it.
Is your sound card listed in Device manager?you have probably wiped out your sound device by reformatting. Dell was(is?) using
Sigma Tel audio devices. Had the same problem on my Dim E310. TRY going to dell support and downloading the most current drivers for Sigma Tel audio HD. Then remove the PCI Device while in device manager. Restart your computer and let windows FIND the Pci device and install the drivers you previously downloaded.
If that doesn't work then remove the pci device and go to add hardware and add "audio" device then restart. Hope this helps you. Thanks alot, got it fixed by dowloading drivers from the dell page, realised that this was connected to the unknown PCI device

Everything works fine nowCool
