Solve : Auto run-install box doesn't come up.?

Answer»

I'm trying to install Serif Web plus X4 on my Computer. I cannot get the install program, to START!!! The box doesn't come up, clicking manually on the setup .exe.. or install.msi.. NEITHER works. I get a well known to Serif it seems error. They have a "hack line" you supposedly can paste into the command prompt, to get it to run, but on MINE, it does not work, already tried....however,when i insert the disc inthe other computer.... it WILL begin to install, just as it should! !!  Both are Windows 7... Mine is 32 bit Home Premium.. Hers 64 Bit Home Premium. What is wrong here?? What am i missing?

By the way.. OTHER programs install fine... MSI seems to work on those... it's just THIS ONE that has issues now... Quote from: Hankster58 on January 12, 2012, 11:40:24 PM

I get a well known to Serif it seems error.

What is the error?"Windows Installer returned 1619" that is from a manually click on the file "Setup.exe" attempt... or....."This installation package COULD not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package."

I did some "tweaking" a while back.. disabling some non used "services" etc, to speed windows up.... now, I wonder, if Serif, for whatever reason, requires something NO ONE ELSE uses....  any thoughts? No other program has done this upon install before on this machine.

What DOES happen, when I insert the disk.. is the AUTO PLAY box comes up... as if Its a MOVIE, or a photo disc, or do I want to download images from a disc or camera etc.... it's like it can't see, it's a PROGRAM  to install!!

ok. load disc, then go to computer, d drive, contents.. click on install.msi.... acts like it is going to install, then SERIF install box comes up and says "this action is not supported, please use Setup.exe to begin installation. so, you do that.... dvd drive and hd buzz a  lot, then finally you get the  "This installation package could not bla bla bla message......  I'm stumped.Reset, every services.msc setting to default.. no joy....Have you tried right click, run as administrator?

Have you been here YET?

I assume you're talking about this:

If that's not working you should contact Serif

Is this a legal VERSION on a CD?

There are more people with the same problem? Windows Installer Error 1619 translates to "The Installer Package could not be opened".

This could mean that there is a problem with the disc, the file on the disc itself is corrupt...  or it could also  mean the installer is a web-installer and it is seeking ADDITIONAL content online and is being silently blocked by a firewall.Troubleshooting - Install fails with "Windows Installer returned 1619", or "This installation package could not be opened", or "Runtime Error"
