Solve : AVG Illegal Action??

Answer»

I bought avg 7.5 which has 2 year license. It was on sale at Office Depot for 39 DOLLARS, with 10 dollar rebate. I jumped on that one Quote

Then noticed that AVG got as far as scanning a program NAMED BitLord
Strange. I use BitLord, as well, and I'm not having any problems with AVG...
Ehhhh, COMPUTERS....who knows...Dairyman, I downloaded AVG from the AVG site, as below:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0

Still no problems so far, so it looks like BitLord was causing the previous problem.I think I know where DragonFly got that information from. He is probably running a VERY old version of AVG and didn't upgrade the program itself. I seem to remember AVG sent out an e-mail or SOMEHOW sent a message through their updates that you need to download a new version of the program itself because the old version would no longer be supported after December 2006. Does this sound familiar to anyone?Well, I did some research and it looks like it was just an effort to get more people to actually purchase the program. All version prior to 7 would no longer be supported with updates.

However, the message sent out and the difficulty they created by not adding in links from their MAIN page to the free version anymore created confusion and a lot of people started reporting that AVG was ending their free offering.
