Answer» Are there any BACKUP that will copy the OS?
Such as if you have a hard drive crash and install a new hard drive is it requred to install the ORIGINAL ( XP Home ) disc first in order to USE the backup to replace your files, programs, etc.

That is all you need. You can get it at www.newegg.com for substantially less. GX!_MAN,
I am really trying to find if Acronis 8.0 will work as that is what I have installed. Have copied a full disc of my hard drive into Acronis Startup Recovery Manager and checked the image, report ok.
Removed the master and slave drives ( which are working fine ) installed a new hard drive, shut down, installed the Acronis Boot disc and clicked on restore image, it ASKED for what do I want to restore. The disc I copied only has the "C" partition, so I entered C:\ , it would GO no futher.
At this point I am lost, can you help?
