Answer» Hello again. My Dad is running win98 on PC at work. He uses bt web access to SEND and receive emails. All of a sudden, whenever he tries to write an email, there is the blank box but he cannot click on it to begin writing an email. There is also a tiny box with a red cross in it in the corner. He can forward emails and also send attachments but is unable to actually write them. His COLLEAGUE used the same email program(same account) on a different pc to make sure it wasnt a fault with the site and she didnt have a problem with it. BT support have been no help whatsoever. The problem has just suddenly STARTED and there have been no recent changes or installations. Any ideas? What is BT web access? What browser is your dad using? Is it the same as the one his colleague used on her machine?
"The problem has just suddenly started and there have been no recent changes or installations" I'm a little leary about these kinds of statements.
Something has happened, be it known to your dad or not. If "nothing" has happened then it would seem that all would be well. That doesn't seem to be the case.
Does anyone else use you dad's computer work other than him?
Did the IT department do some sort of upgrade recently? Has he checked with them at all?

Is this a program or a web-based email client?
Can you send a screenshot of the problem?Bt webaccess is web based email, my dad is using I.E. 5, nobody else uses this pc and there have been no upgrades recently. What i meant by the statement "no changes have been made" was that my Dad hasnt altered anything manually. The pc has frozen now and then. Is it possible that if it froze during spooling or something and needed to be shut down and restarted manually that this could cause a problem? :-?I can possibly get a screen shot tomorrow. So, it's web based email, meaning email is accessed via IE5, not Outlook, Outlook Express, or another email software, right? Was that colleague who can view the email also using ancient Win 98 and IE5?
Have they TRIED updating IE to version 6?
You did not answer some questions asked by ale52.You could try accessing the site in another browser such as www.firefox.com
