Solve : Big mess with forwarding ports?

Answer»

Ok heres how my story goes: I learn about torrents so i tried Vuze and uTorrent. Neither one of them worked either because of port forwarding or uPnP or my lack of experience of both. So I did some researching and I figured it might be my firewall or any spyware remover i might have.

On to another thing: whenever I tried to access Norton Internet security I would get an error message and it would tell me to restart my computer. So I try to update Norton to see if that would HELP. THEN it tells me that Norton can't update because the update is not compatable with Grisoft AVG. SO THEN, I try to uninstall AVG but it tells me its protected or something. AAAND THEEN I saw on a forum that going into Run: and typing in services.msc, and stoping AVG's services might help. So i get in there to find out that theyre already stopped!

Plz...lol plz... i dont really want to reduce myself to begging but i need help ive been trying to fix this for weeks and its very...very......very frustrating and annoying. I will add any details you want me to add just ask.

I currently am running a Dell Optiplex GX150 with Windows XP Professional
Intel Pentium III Processesor with the old HD (about 9gb, 3gb of usable space) that was ORIGINALLY on there and a Seagate 160gb

First off, using TWO antivirus PROGRAMS is really bad idea.
Secondly, using Norton is even worse idea.
Start with uninstalling Norton, using this: http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
Then, uninstall AVG, and start over.

- Avast! free antivirus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
- Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html

- free PC Tools Firewall Plus: http://www.pctools.com/firewall/

- free Comodo Internet Security (firewall + AV): http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

If you decide to INSTALL Avast, or Avira, make sure, Windows firewall is turned on, or use PC Tools Firewall Plus.
If you decide to install Comodo, make sure, Windows firewall is turned off.

IMPORTANT! Make sure, you use only ONE antivirus, and ONE firewall. Thanks for the input that stuff will help alot. I cant delete AVG for some reason. Its services arent running but it says its protected. Heres the message a recieve:

Cannot delete avgse.dll

Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected
and that the file is not currently in use

Idk what to do but thanks for the rest I really appreciate itProceed with one step at a time.
Step no. 1 - uninstall Norton
Restart computer.
Step no. 2 - try to uninstall AVG again. If it doesn't want to, reinstall over the top. Try to uninstall again.Ok ill keep you posted with my results

Also are you sure I should do this even though I paid for Norton. Is there some way I can keep the file just not have it installed? Please, do.Quote from: MichaelC13 on February 10, 2009, 08:16:53 PM

I cant delete AVG for some reason.

How are you going about it?

Do you go into control panel and then Add/Remove programs?JJ, let him finish with Norton, first.Nortons almost done. At first I went into Add and Remove Programs and clicked Change/Remove but it told me it is protected so then i tried going into program files and deleting it from there but teh same thing happenedQuote
