Solve : BIOS update? |
Answer» ok, I downloaded a BIOS update for my IBM NetVista 8303. However, Im kinda scared to actually flash my BIOS because of some horror stories I heard....... my hard drive is bigger than detected, but i guess it is already formatted as 120Gb when I first installed windows, But I dont know if after flashing my BIOS and it detects my hard drive as 250Gb Are you sure you have the right BIOS flash file? Make sure you have the right one....and...do you really need to flash your BIOS, and why?the main reason i want to flash it is because I WANTED it to detect my whole hard drive not just part of it...... I got the BIOS flash from Lenovo web site.. I don't see the 8300 listed. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-42952.htmlDo you have SP2 installed ? ? A HDD SIZE limitation is not neccessarily a BIOS issue...unfortuantely I dont have service packs installed. Would getting these help out?? I'll get them and then see if it worksSP2 allows Windows to properly see HDD's bigger than 137G... And it is a major OS upgrade as well. What patio said is nicely explained here: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/printpage/482/2 Quote Windows ME, NT, 2000 and XP without SP1 or SP2 don't recognize hard drives over 128 GB as they don’t support 48-bit LBA addressing...127.5GB, or 136GB depending on your GB definition... |
