Solve : Blank gray screen?

Answer»

While on the internet, this frequently begins to happen. My web page goes all gray on my screen, except for about 1/2 inch on top with the web site heading. I cant refresh, F5, or anything. There are no buttons available to do anything, just blank gray screen. My only choice is to just close the screen and open up Firefox again.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this is?

I have backed up my stuff in case its crashing. I have run all of my anti virus stuff twice. I have defragged also.

I have the new Firefox and Vista.
Does it happen with other browsers? I would have to say yes. My home browser is set to http://www.isp.netscape.com/ But I do use Yahoo, and GOOGLE quite often.No. Not your home page.

What happens with Internet Explorer? This program:
Ewwwwwwww....

Can someone help me?

[recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]Clear the browser cache (Tools->Clear Private Data->select cache->click on "Clear Private Data Now" button).

(If USING Firefox 3.5.x use menu path Tools->Options->Advanced->Network tab->click on "Clear Now" button.)

Delete any cookies relating to the site(s) involved (Tools->Options->Privacy->Show Cookies button).

-------------

The RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin EXTENSION (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) has been reported to cause that issue.

Be sure not to get confused with the RealPlayer plugin (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) that plays media files.
The extension adds some extra features like saving media files.

You can disable/remove the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension in the RealPlayer Preferences (RP: Tools > Preferences > Download & Recording)Quote from: midwestguy on April 11, 2010, 06:41:29 PM

Not easy to help someone who doesn't know the difference between a web browser and a website or web page, which, for most users, is quite ELEMENTARY.

Yahoo, Google, and http://www.isp.netscape.com/ are websites, not browsers. You use your browser to view the websites. Quote from: Lappinga on April 11, 2010, 06:58:09 PM

Look in your plugins and disable one at a time of the following until the problem is resolved:

"Real Play Browser Record"

Be sure to restart Firefox whenever a plugin is disabled to find out if it made any difference.
