Solve : C drive now unknown??

Answer»

Hi all, My DESK top computer tries to boot up windows XP and as soon as its done it restarts and I get sorry windows had to restart DUE to a power cut,etc and to reboot, reboot to last known changes, Safe boot.
I tryed the safe boot and the screen filles up with alot of drivers names etcand restarts to the same page above. Once in while trying to get this to load I did finaly get to read the blue screen of death, it said windows had to shut down to protect it.

I tryed the reboot CD for this computer and when it gets to the partion to load on I have a E - with about 500mb room on it and instead of the C being the next one, it say's unknown. I can not load a new XP over it or delete it, so it seems my C drive has been changed to unknown?

So as far as I can see I have no way to switch it back becaues the computer won't stay on long enough for me to do anything, unless the reboot CD is in, but like I said It won't reload a windows XP.

Can you use a floppy boot disk? You need to run fdisk.

Look Here Also Super Fdisk 1.0  .See below link.

This computer didn't come with with floppy drive. I have one sitting around and can put it in but will it work due to not being able to get to a POINT to read new hardwear? How big is the file and will it fit on a portable USB drive? thanksIf you have a regular floppy drive you can use just the
Win 98 SE bootdisk.This program will write the boot disk for
you.----->Here

That should solve your problem with fdisk.street1 the WinME is a better choice as it will recognise today's larger HDD's...
It still fits on a floppy as well.Thanks guys but I have try ed many ways to download and use above and it not working. Is there a PC softwear I can buy that will over ride this and get me to change this drive back to C to save my newer stuff, like any of the REG cleaners , etc ?

 Unless there is another way to get into this computer to change it with out taking it to a repair store and why will they be able to get it back to normal if no programs are out there? thanks very much for your time on this matter. Cheers.
