Solve : C00D11B1 error message when playing avi files?

Answer»

Hello there.
I have a no-name LAPTOP running WINDOWS XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3 which is a legitimate version.
The PC information is as follows: AMD Turion(tm) 64 x2 Mobile Technology, 1.60 GHz.

I am simply trying to play avi files which I have played before and which play properly on other COMPUTERS. So there's nothing wrong with the files but I get a C00D11B1 error message when I try to play one of the files in Windows Media Player. The files simply won't play through Winamp, Real Player, etc. I have since installed the latest Windows Media Player but to no avail.

The detail of the C00D11B1 error message can be read at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/webhelp/default.aspx?&mpver=11.0.5721.5145&id=C00D11B1&contextid=111&originalid=80004005

Apparently it's a sound card issue. However, having followed all the instructions on the error information page regarding doing checks in Device Manager, there appears to be nothing wrong with my sound card - it's functioning fine. The sound card is a Realtek High Definition Audio.

Anyone have any idea? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
LachlanDLoad, install and run VLC Player (FREE) and see if it works...
If it does it's a WMP issue and you aare missing some codecs.Hey, it works! THANKS a million. Goodbye Windows Media...
