Solve : Camedia program just disappeared? |
Answer» HI everyone, Newbie, so thanks in advance for any advice. Running XP pro for a while now, with SYGATE Firewall, nothing fancy, but works fine... Installed my Olympus DIGITAL cam program (Camedia) over a year ago... All working fine, lots of pics loaded into the program. Have been using this program since installing on a regular basis... Run installed and online virus programs regularly to try and keep out the crud, and keep my firewall updated! Boot up today, program is gone! No shortcut, no signs of program at all... Like it had never been installed? For whatever reason, System Restore will not work, even though there are several restore points/dates to try, but tells me S Restore is unable to restore to whatever date I try? So, does anyone have any thoughts on where I might look to see if the program is hidden somewhere, or if it was uninstalled/overwritten by mistake? I have LOST and recovered data in the past, but never an entire program... Thanks again for any suggestions. connfuzzed1 in NC Are you the only person who uses this computer? No. Two kids and a wife... Although, the kids are 18/15, and know full well how bad it feels to lose our pics, having had it happen with a Windows ME crash back a few years ago. I realize a mistake can be made, but to uninstall would be melicious... Although not ruling that out EITHER. I am just looking for some way to see for sure if it was uninstalled, or just moved and hidden or something? I am usually pretty good at locating movement tracks for whats going on, on my PC, but I am stumped! Anyway, so thanks for any suggestions connfuzzed1 Quote Windows ME crash back a few years ago. You really shouldn't use Windows ME. Either use Windows 98SE or, preferably, something newer than Windows ME. Also regularly copy all your important files to CD so you don't have to worry about losing data. If you want to get your data back, stop using the Hard Disk Drive and install PC Inspector File Recovery immediatly. The more you use this HDD, the more chance there is that you will overwrite the files you are looking to recover. |
