Hello, I'm new to computing and 67, LOL. But, I want to desperately know what my neighbor is using to create the worst sound ever. Just when I'm falling asleep it sounds like a deep train that just hums. I've never heard anything like it. Friends said to check as many COMPUTER user sites I can find. I hope this question is interesting enough for somebody to write me back. I'd like to know so I can play white noise that will work. So far the white noise I have is just weak. Best, Paula.I'd ask the neighbor to find out what they are doing that is making the sound. Maybe with them aware that it bothers you they will be a good neighbor and stop. Additionally depending on time of day there may be a sound ordinance that governs silence during the time its happening to which police can assist.

Low Frequency which is what I think your hearing LIKES to travel quite a DISTANCE and it reminds me of when my guitar amp has its 60 hz hum which I have been told by my neighbor he can hear in his house down the hill from my house as it travels through the ground and then his foundation of his home takes the vibration and turns it back into sound, but i dont have this happening constant. Its usually when i am playing on my guitar and then accidentally step on cord and it gets tugged out of the jack and I have to stuff it back in after first making sure the STRINGS of the guitar are at rest. My neighbor DOESNT mind this and it actually was a cool way that he found out that I play guitar as he plays bass himself so it struck a cool lengthy conversation.
