About five days ago something happened to cause me to be unable to open email attachments in Outlook EXPRESS. These are common FILES such as doc and pdf files I have never had a problem opening. I am unable to find any settings in Outlook Express that correct the problem. I can save the file and then open it. Does anyone know what may have happened?

MarkYes, Outlook is a horrible program and does STUFF like this on a random basis. I'd switch to Mozilla Thunderbird if I were you. Open Outlook Express / go to Tools / Options / Security & uncheck the "Do Not ALLOW attachments to saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" box. Exit OE and try it again.
Alan <>< Thanks for the help. One of the first things I did was check the setting you mentioned. It was not the problem. I am happy to report that I have found a solution, however. By deleting the account in OE shutting down OE and rebooting, then re-entering the account, I have CLEARED up the problem. That does not really explain what the problem was, but it eliminated it. All atachments now open.
