Answer» I am using an Insignia model: D400 series: 400 that I just got from a friend. I had to format and reload Windows XP and now I can't find any controls or drivers for the sound. How WOULD I go about it. Thanks.Did you use a complete version of XP?You need to identify the sound device and install the drivers.
Download Everest and see what sound chip is involved:
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181Ok I downloaded Everest and I lookedAudio in the multimedia and all it said was: Windows audio and PCI/PnP audio... I opened the windows audio and it says I have no media device and the other shows nothing at all It would appear that there is no sound card in there. Did it used to have sound? If so, open the case and read what is on the sound card. With no more info on the machine, we would just be guessing to go further with this.
We'll wait to hear from you. The computer did play souns before I formated it and the only info I can get on it is from Belarc and this is what it posted: Operating System System Model Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600) vpr Matrix, Inc. Belarc only lists things that have drivers installed. Run Everest to se if anything is listed under PCI Audio.
