Solve : Can't use Unlocker - Windows 7 x64 bit... Help!?

Answer»

Hi, I am currently using Windows 7 x64 bit, and I have a really bad problem with the 'latest' version of Unlocker on my system... can anyone help me please???

I remember on Windows Xp you COULD just right-click a file, click Unlocker, it'll bring up a menu-thingy.... Delete, Move, Unlock All processes, ETC...

But no, I don't get any of that when I do this on Windows 7... I don't even know how the heck I would use the x64 bit version... Dumbest part of all is, it's in the /program files (x86)/ folder!?

I was thinking this is a virus... am I INFECTED??

I've ran MalwareBytes anti-malware, found 2 trojans, deleted, ran Avast *highly updated*, and found only a few HTML viruses/cookies...
ran Hijack Hunter, found nothing of suspicion...

So I am still wondering why I cannot use Unlocker on my system to delete locked files... I need to use this really bad but it seems it just won't run.
Any help? Ideas?

I also tried Running Unlocker in Windows Xp Sp3 Compatibility (administrator), and Windows Vista (no SP's, administrator).
And AMAZINGLY to my luck, Unlocker didn't work still, though I managed to catch this quick Unknown Application with No Name running on my task bar...
Sorry, my prntscrn button is acting stupid, the pic is kind of late...

Here:

[recovering disk space - OLD attachment deleted by admin]there is no x64 version of unlocker. That's why it's in x86. It's a 32-bit program.

Because of this Explorer can't load it. Try "LockHunter" instead. That's worked alright for me.http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/#download

Sorry,

tried that, does nothing.

EDIT: Ok, I've tried Unlocker. Unlocker x64 bit, FILE ASSASSIN Bundled with Malware Bytes' AntiMalware, and still no help...

Maybe this is some kind of new 'safety restriction' thing in Windows 7?? That Microsoft locked out??? I really don't know..

I haven't tried Locktool yet, as I don't know how I should test it.... I want a file deleter tool that can remove Locked files WITHOUT Reboot... As I'm more of a convenient person and I don't like having to reboot my PC so oftenly... \ Actually, I really don't mind if I need to reboot it's just that sometimes I'm in a hurry to get rid of something, it's almost like my PC takes forever to boot...

This is what I'm saying...

@Patio: It's just that if I'm in the middle of something I wouldn't really want to reboot...

but actually I wouldn't mind a reboot... Just if I'm not frustrated with a virus or otherwise... Quote

This makes no sense...if a re-boot is required then what's the hassle ? ?

Also there's no change in Win7 that would prevent Unlocker from working...Lockhunter works.

In either case this is probably related to your messing around in the registry and registry cleaners and other crap you've probably run that also happened to destroy your "Open With" menu.
