Answer» I apologise if this is a basic question, I am an old man struggling to keep up with technology.
My PROBLEM is that I have a file on a very old computer that I want to copy to disk and then TRANSFER to my new laptop.
When I try to copy this small Excel file onto my (D:) drive, it tells me that the folder is marked 'Read Only'. The machine says it is a CD recordable/rewritable machine.
I guess I just need to change it to read & write, but don't know how to do this. Any help much appreciated.Right click on the file name, select properties, uncheck read only, click apply, click OK.i just want to say, it's not too late too learn, and i respect the OLDER that have a big heart and still want to learn.
Just follow 2k_dummy.Thanks for the reply, HOWEVER it is not the file that is the problem, it appears the entire D; drive is read only and I can't put anything onto the disc.err, do you mean that you want to transfer the file into a blank disc? then you have to burn it using nero ahead or other burning software, and not just that, you must have have a burner drive, can you cd drive burn disc? What is your D drive? Where do you have that file, right now? On a floppy?
