Solve : cannot install any program in Windows XP?

1.	Solve : cannot install any program in Windows XP?
Answer» I have HP PAVILION 502n. I can download programs but cannot install. I DOWNLOADED PC check to scan registry but didnot seem to install. There was no error message or any message.1) Exactly what happens when you try to install something? 2) Did this just start or has it ALWAYS been this way? 3) If it just started, what is new SINCE the last time things worked properly (new hw, sw, virus, error, etc)?
