Answer» Last week i tried to play a music CD in my laptop but it would not play. It also does not play CD ROM's. It does however play DVD's fine. I have done a lot of ripping music recently but not much burning. I have tried a number of different discs but the problem remains. I have also tried re-installing the driver for the CD drive but again, no change.
Are there any other things i could TRY? Have I buggered the thing? Do I need a new one? Anybody out there that can help, please?Well Markyp, I know you're new here but I am afraid we need some more information. Information such as: 1. What OS are you using 2. What CD Drive do you have 3. What laptop are you using
That should be fine for starters.CDRom's and music CD's won't play...but DVD's do. Sounds like the optics have failed. Some DUAL purpose player/burners have 2 sets of optics one for CD formats and one for DVD's.
A new DVD burner can be had from newegg for about 40 bucks including shipping.i would have to agree with patio on this one ive had it happen twice once to my pc and also my aunts 2 completely DIFFRENT pc's. i also like to shop at newegg!
P.S. sorry about the death of your drive Let US have a moment of silence...
