Solve : CD Drive Magicly Dead?!? |
Answer» Okay. So TODAY I put in a cd in my cd-rom, when I wanted to take it out (1 or 2 hours later) my cd-rom didn't open simply just did not open. I press the button and still doesn't open. I go to My Computer and right click on the driver icon and click on eject, still no use. So I restart the computer the suddenly (after the computer completely loads properly) the cd-rom opens by it's self. So a little while later I suddenly realise that my Cd driver has disappeared. I mean it's not in My Computer any more. So I put in a cd and the computer doesn't read it, and once again the cd gets STUCK in there, i re-start the computer and then the cd rom opens. So how did my cd driver randomly disconnect? And also how could I re-install it without the installation cd (if one is needed). The drive is probably dead...how old is it ? ? The drive is probably dead...how old is it ? ?Good advice. Also consider ta failing CD drive may take more power from the PSU and generate needless heat. GET a new DVD RW drive. You will like it. dvd drives are actually $30. Is it just me or did they go up in price from awhile ago?Quote New Dual-Layer DVD burners are about 40 bucks The emphasis on Dual-Layer...If you need to get the cd out my friend taught me a trick you take a paperclip straighten it out and stick it in the tiny hole on the front of the drive and it usually opens. At least if you have to get a new drive if there is anything in there you can get it out. Sorry I can't be more help hope it works out for you! That's not a trick. That's the manual eject button. And what does that have to do with this (2 week old) thread?Sorry I'm new to the site and searched for problems with Cd Drives because I was having problems like this with mine. I didn't see the date of the post just THOUGHT I'd offer what very little I know. When mine started having issues I honestly thought I was going to lose my favorite Cd but my friend acted like a genius when he showed me what he called a trick I had NEVER heard of the manual eject button. I am familiar with software stuff but not hardware as much which is why I'm on this site to learn. Sorry I wasn't any help I'll pay attention to the date when I search from now on.No problem - and sorry if I came across unnecessarily harsh. |
