Solve : CD Driver not responding...................?

hi, I have just bought a new laptop about a MONTH AGO and now the CD driver is not working...........??
it has been working as i have ripped music into my library.
when i PUT a CD or DVD in the drive it makes a noise which i think is the motor but it wont PLAY the disc/s

what would happen if i uninsulated it ? would i be able to INSTALL the driver again?

any help would be great thanksRemove the drive and reseat it with all power off and the battery removed.
Then power up.
Optical drives do not need drivers.
