Answer» Hi, my laptop seems to have eaten my CD drive... I WENT to burn some music on to a cd yesterday and apparently I don't have a CD drive anymore. There isn't even a DVD/CD-ROM Drives category in DEVICE manager. When I put a disk in, I can HEAR it loading, and the little light flashes on the side, so I dont think its somehow managed to disconnect itself. Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. You'll SEE two items: - ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel) - ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel) Right click on each of them, and click Uninstal. Confirm. Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.
