Answer» fairly new computer about a year. I am recently not able to use the cd/dvd drive. error message i am getting "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" HELPHi,
The issue is due to wrong registry settings. First backup registry ->
Click Start -> Run -> type regedit -> then click OK 2. In registry Window click on File from main menu -> click on Export 3. Type a name and select a LOCATION to SAVE it (save it at a location where you will remember) 4. Click on Save
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\Class
Under Class, select subkey 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318
IN the right pane, Select UpperFilter and press the Delete key. Confirm the deletion by clicking Yes. Select LowerFilters in the right pane and press the Delete key. Confirm the deletion by clicking Yes. If only one of the filers is present, delete the one listed.
RESTART the computer. The drive should work after a restart.
