Solve : CD+R/RW driver "not found"??

Answer»

I DOWNLOADED the Windows 7 beta from Microsoft and attempted to burn the ISO file to a DVD with MULTIPLE softwares and receive the same error message: "Not found CD+R/RW driver!"
It was EITHER that message or the field where my CD-ROM driver name is located is blanked out...
But the WEIRD thing is, that when I insert a DVD or CD, the "What do you want to do?" action box comes up (asks if you want to burn the CD, make a music CD, etc.) but it won't show up in any fields or be recognized by software. I've rebooted and everything with no different outcome. The driver also shows up in the Device Manager......

I've read online that I should uninstall the driver and reboot, then the driver will reinstall, but I'm afraid that something wrong will happen...
So should I take the chance or is there any alternative(s)?Nothing bad should happen, all optical drivers are in essence on the Windows disk. Take a chance with it and let us know.Let's not mix up drive with driver.
Optical drives don't need any extra drivers in Vista.Or XP.or 2000/NTWe could really drag this one out eh?OK. Anything NT based. Amen...LOL AMEN You guys are hilarious...lol
But I did a system RESTORE; it completely reinstalled XP. FRESH START. I still have all my other files though...CD drive is working perfectly! BTW, I had to do an F11 (Gateway notebook) restore because I kept getting BSoD on each boot...even in Safe Mode...the last OS to need drivers for the CD-ROM/optical drives was windows 3.1/DOS...

heh, I dragged it out anyway. sorry about that.

Haha well I'm going by what I read on the Microsoft website lolMeanwhile................back at the Ranch...Quote from: teezy4life on July 22, 2009, 04:31:49 PM

I'm glad to hear it, it's always nice when the solution only costs time instead of dollars.Quote from: Quantos on July 23, 2009, 07:21:50 PM
