Answer»

I recently put my own computer together and i was setting up the bios after i was done it said insert cd...when i put the cd in it only spins once or twice and does not read it...in the bios it shows that the drive was found and it displays the brand name..does anybody know why it does not read i would really appriciate it if someone could help me out...? Hi cd-rom. I recently had the same problem. Try cleaning the cd, it could be the lens that it dirty. use a hair dryer to BLOW, then plug it back and TEST it agian.i don't think anything is wrong with the drive because i took it out of my old computer..i actually tried two different ones and still the same thing happens...Try replacing the ribbon cable...they do go bad.
Also use another Molex power connector than the current one.all the CABLES are new they came with the motherboard..but i did try switching them ANYWAY and still the same thing happens..anyone else that could give some info on this???So,which Windows are you using?

Do you have a 3.5 floppy drive?i was going to install xp pro..and it does recognize and read the floppy drive while in the bios...and it recognizes the cd drive but does not wanna read...Have you tried booting with a Win98SE bootsisk? The below FILE will
make a boot disk.
