Solve : Cell Phone(modem?) won't connect through infrared?

Answer»

OS: Windows 98 Second Edition

Problem: Computer wont recognise my mobile phone through infrared using a usb adapter. I seem to have all the correct DRIVERS installed for the adapter, according to the cd.

When I activate infrared on my phone, it shows that it is CONNECTED to a computer(on screen, using an image, top-left). Also, on the actual computer, it comes up as "one infrared device in range - SAGEM" on the Infrared Monitor. So it is obviously connected.

When I try to transer files using Infrared Recipient, the following message appears:
"Communications could not be initialized. Make sure infrared is enabled on your machine thourgh the infrared control panel applet." (- which is referring to the Infrared Monitor)

The problem is that the infrared monitor is not installing the (modem?) drivers for the PNP device (which is my mobile phone) when it is connected. When trying to install it manually through the control panel, it seems to recognize my phone. However the infrared on the phone seems to disconnect (image top-right) for a slight moment.
Thus, saying that it could't find any modems during the search. (it searches through 3 ports - port1, port2 and an virtual infrared port)
While all this is happening, i noticed that the infrared monitor seems to be showing activity. (eg. as if it was sending/recieving files.)

Does anyone have any advice for me?
eg:
-change settings on phone (serial speed)
-change setting on computer (serial speed)

Note: I almost forgot, my phone model is 'Sagem my400v' if that helps
Doesn't surprise me when you're using Windows 98. Did you install drivers for your cellphone? You might need a special tool to allow you to browse through the cellphone's directory.. Look on the cellphone manufacturer's website.

I doubt Windows 98 is supported by them, though.Quote
