Solve : Colour picking application?

Answer»

Does anyone know of a (free) application that allows me to pick whatever colour I SEE on a webpage and save it to memory in hexadecimal format for use Photoshop, etc. I see some freeware here: http://www.programurl.com/software/color-picking.htm. I haven't used any of them but it looks like you may have some good options there.Hm, ANYTHING tested & tried? The only software I've actually used with a color picking tool is Microsoft Image Composer, which came with Microsoft FrontPage 98 that I bought years ago. I see GIMP has a color picker that picks colors from an image within GIMP. With Image Composer, I can use the color picker to roam outside of Image Composer and obtain colors, which is what you really want to do.I was thinking of installing Gimp, but it wants me to install GTK +2 ENVIRONMENT. What is that and why do I need that? I had not heard of GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment until you mentioned it. I have the portable version of GIMP; I downloaded it from portableapps.com. When I installed it on my flash drive, I did not get any message about having to install GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment. So, either the portable version does not require GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment or I already have it, although I don't recall ever having installed it.

Did you see Installers for GIMP for Windows?Yep, that's the one that demands that you install GTK environment. I'll use the portable as well, can't be BOTHERED installing extra stuff to get one program to RUN. You're definitely better off without GTK. I had to get rid of it because it wanted to hog up more space than I was comfortable with.I just learned that Paint.NET also has the feature and, like GIMP, it works within Paint.NET. Paint.NET has its own forum @ http://paintdotnet.12.forumer.com/index.php
