Solve : Computer Blue screens constantly after incorrect driver instalation?

Answer»

Hi, i installed a new driver only to find out my label on my computer was wrong and i had downloaded the wrong driver. many experiments later i keep getting the blue screen of death. here are some picture to help out, any advice appreciated.

Boot into safe mode by tapping F8 rapidly on start and before you see the Windows start screen.
Uninstall the incorrect driver and re-boot.
Have you located the correct driver ? ?
If not DLoad and run Everest Home and it will tell you all your machine components...How do i uninstall the driver? I tried from the add remove programs but that screwed my computer up majorly.

Also i can get into my computer fine it just blue screens a lot.

And no i don't know which driver to get. My DX Diag thing says this:
Name: Mobile INTEL(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip Type: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Familywhat was the driver for? GPU? dvd drive? what COMPONENT?

try running the driver again and look for an uninstall option.

Otherwise tell us the component and we should be able to locate where it is to uninstall itQuote from: NOT ADMIN :P on April 21, 2008, 07:23:07 PM

Keep in mind i know nothing about computers... i cant find where i GOT it from and i got it because the ghost recon website had a link to a better driver so i installed it. i can give you the file names if it helps
winxp_14331.exe
win2k_xp14103.exe

the second one i downloaded when the first stopped working and it works somtimesWhy not travel back to the ghost recon site and find out exactly what you have installed ? ?What is rajni smoking?

What we need to know is what computer part did you install the driver for?

*most of the computer parts inside your computer require drivers (software) to communicate with each other*

Do you have any cds that came with your computer??

See if any say 'driver' or (version 1.64 etc.) on the lable/cover

what were you TRYING to fix or update wen you installed this driver?

Or what wasnt working which made you try to fix it?

Just try to answer as much as you can so we can eliminate some thingsAlso, can you not boot to safe mode and ROLL back the drivedr to an earlier one? Or use system restore to go back to a time before this faux pas?Quote from: CallMeJustin on April 21, 2008, 01:52:33 AM
How do i uninstall the driver?

Click start then click run and type in: devmgmt.msc
This will take you to Device Manager. Here you see all of your hardware devices and drivers. If you see a yellow or red ! or ? then you need a driver or have the wrong one installed.

right click the device that is in question and choose uninstall.

The best place to get drivers is usually from your computer manufacturers website. Check it out and see if they have driver downloads
