Solve : COMPUTER FREEZING RANDOMLY?

Answer»

Hey guys,

My computer keeps randomly freezing while i am playing games. (cod4, crysis and warcraftIII)

spose u want specs...

4gb ram
intel 6600 quad core
Asus striker mobo
2 8800GTs (512mb) running SLI
24" chimei

Vista x86

I am using nvidia drivers and they are up to date

running bitdefender ultimate 08 (AV and firewall)

When it freezes the screen stops where i was ingame. I cant bring up tsk man and the sound it was playing wen it froze repeats in a loop until i hold power button down.

Im thinking it may be drivers but i have no ideas

Even running crysis on high on a RESPECTABLE resolution it freezes the same as a lower end game for today as WC3.

I own battle field 2 and that has never frozen on me but i do get wierd black spots on the terrian.

Im not sure whether this is hardware or driver based issues.

So i will start here, mainly because ive heard of many issues between vista and nvidia

Thanks in advance... i hopeSP1 installed?Crysis freezes everything...you're not the first.Yes but it is all games

Or are you suggesting i uninstall crysis?

I will check what SP is installed

Cant remember

Thank god im going to get some help!!!!Yes i have SP1 installed.

It may be a conflict with bitdefender (AVG)

because it randomly scans files in use hence the random freezes.

I initially thought it may be my usb keyboard because i am always holding [alt] for wc3
and CLICKING and pressing other keys so i may have been activating multiple processes until my computer couldnt handle it and it froze up.

But then i realised it happened in games that didnt rely on [alt] to play

Is there something i can try now that you know i have SP1?

i will take of file scanning (real time) and have to manually system scan every now and then.

Try that anyways

PS its not overheating***Vista SP1 has known issues wit nVidia drivers. You may check with nVidia FORUMS, if there is any solution, yet.Is it possible to use a 3rd parties drivers for my 8800GT's running in SLI???I simply don't know.I have used Omega drivers on nVidia cards before...your mileage may vary.should i remove SP1??

and try that?

Ive tried running with bitdefender off and firewall off

still same issue

i think it is becoming more frequent im gonna try a reformat again seeing that my computer is still new.

When i can be bothered...

In the meantime if you think of any other solutuions to try inform me.

thanksANY IDEAS???Try uninstalling SP1Post the entire blue screen error message...DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Technical Information:
***STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x001201c3, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xAF771B6) or something like that......

I KNOW!!! its not overheating or faulty RAM.

Have run multiple tests on both.

I am thinking it may be a nvidia driver related problem and trying a 3rd party's driver.

Starting with....?

OMEGA (because it was reccomended above)Quote

I KNOW!!! its not overheating or faulty RAM.
What the heck? Do you have a crystal ball, or something?
