Solve : Computer restarts at boot cus wrong driver install?

Answer»

Hey EVERYONE,  i have a Gateway with Windows XP PRO SP1, a 128mb winfast vid, 256Ram, 500mhz PIII, a Maxtor 60GB(master), and a IBM 13GB(slave). My New Audio Card Is a CT4780 Sound Blaster Live! and i am trying to install it.

My problem was that i was looking for the driver to the Audio Card made for windows xp, and none were working (not even from their website), it kept giving me an error that the multimedia device could not be installed due to "wrong Data" on the add new hardware wizard. One of the drivers i last downloaded said it was made for windows NT and i installed it. it ASKED me to restart my computer and i did. when my computer boots up now, when it goes to load the login screen, my computer just restarts.

So in case that didnt make much sense, i NEED a driver for my audio card that works on xp, and i need help trying to get my computer to boot up all the way and stop trying to finish the installation of that driver on startup. any help GREATLY appreciated!Safe mode should get you in, then uninstall the incorrect driver & reboot BACK to normal mode.it restarts even when i load safe mode too.Try removing the audio card & rebooting in safe mode.wow, why didnt i think of that? it worked, thank you so much! now, to find a driver.Happy hunting to you Here you go:
