Answer» I have an old Dell PC. It has a CD ROM Drive. I want to erase all the data on the hard drive of the old PC.
To do so, I would like to use a newer Dell PC to download software from the internet for ERASING data. This PC has a DVD+/- drive and a CD ROM drive. Is there a type of disk I could use in the DVD+/- drive to COPY the software onto, and then use in the CD ROM drive of the old PC? If you have a Windows CD, you can boot from the disc and format the hard drive.
You can even hook the old hard drive up as a slave in our new computer and format from within Windows.I used a CD-RW. ...........So? Did it work or not?
If it didn't what were your errors?I checked with Dell whether a CD-RW was suitable for each computer. They said it was. It worked ok. I'm glad to hear that you solved your problem.
