Answer» I used a HOST file for my xp that i downloaded online to block ads
well it was blocking some things i needed, so i deleted the host file in my system32/drivers/etc folder - hoping windows WOULD generate the default one.
But it didnt, and now i have no hosts file. How will this influence my computer experience?
If you re-boot a new blank hosts file will be created...I did reboot...
all i have is
-imhosts sam file
-protocol file
-networks file
-services file

Btw i have been wondering what is the point of hosts file. I always thought it as a filter to what sites can access your computer.
So since i have no hosts file, am i more vulnerable to MALWARE and GETTING hacked?A Good Guideline...thanks again patio
