Solve : Desperate for Microsoft Word Help!?

Answer»

I'm working in Microsoft Word and desperately need help!

Issue 1: can't delete "border line"

So what happened was I wrote the title of the page, typed ------ to make a line under the title, pressed enter, and the line became a solid line which I can't cut, can't delete, can't get rid of in any way! ANYONE know how to do this?
Much thanks!!

Issue 2: Theme not PRINTING

Ok, so my second issue is I wanted to put some colour in the background of my document, so I decided to put a theme in. Done, great. But when I PRINT it, the background colour does not print! The only part of the theme that stays and prints is the coloured bullets! But I NEED that background colour to print too!! What do I do?

Thanks again!!
Re: Issue 1: can't delete "border line"

Try dragging your mouse pointer over the line so that you get to this point:

Then, try just hitting the Delete key. If that does not work: On the Format menu, click Borders and Shading, and then click the Page Border tab. Under SETTING, click None. Quote from: shannonstone on May 16, 2007, 10:41:41 AM

Seems like a big waste of ink. Anyway, does print Preview show the colored background? Thanks for your help...I tried both of your suggestions for the border line but neither approach worked.

As for the colour, no print preview does not show the colour in the background... Use the brute force method. Copy everything on that page except the pesky solid line to a blank document and save it to replace the problem page.Quote from: shannonstone on May 16, 2007, 10:41:41 AM

Have you considered colored stationary? It's cheaper, easier, and will look better. Printing out a background will likely cause your paper to bunch up.Quote from: shannonstone on May 16, 2007, 02:11:33 PM

What version of Word are you using? I have Word 2003 open here and the background color appears in the Print Preview screen and will print on paper. Exactly how are you setting the background color? What's the exact menu sequence you're using to set it?

Do you also have Microsoft Publisher? It comes with some versions of Office.Quote from: shannonstone on May 16, 2007, 10:41:41 AM

1.>After pressing the enter once press the BACKSPACE.
2.> Make sure the printing option background printing option is marked.

ThanksGood tips, Jayanand. I believe he may also need to verify that "Background colors and IMAGES" are selected under Include with document.
