Answer» I would keep DKLite then... it's free and the only feature it doesn't include from the paid version is scheduling...Were can you download Diskkeeper? I googled for it but I can only find one site were you can download it and the site isn't recommended by SiteAdvisor. Here is the completion notice from DKlite. It runs super fast which is normal. I watched it carefully and it sits at 12% for a few seconds then speeds through to 100% and says everything has completed NORMALLY. The display of the files they show you don't ACTUALLY change to MUCH from the original before you actually run DKLite. I'll TRY this for a while.
Findings on C:
Diskeeper has completed a defragmentation run on this volume and there remain 0 fragmented files and/or DIRECTORIES and 0 excess fragments. (There were 333 excess fragments before the defragmentation run, and now there are 100% less.)
The average number of fragments per file is 1.00.
Congratulations! There are no excess file or directory fragments on this volume. The files on this volume are as defragmented as possible. Still, you should schedule Diskeeper to run at least once a day (if you haven't already done so) to maintain this low level of fragmentation.
Volume (C:): Volume size=99 GB Cluster size=4 KB Used space=21,996 MB Free space=79,382 MB Percent free space=78 %
Fragmentation percentage Volume fragmentation=0 % Data fragmentation=0 %
File fragmentation Total files=91,007 Average file size=328 KB Total fragmented files=0 Total excess fragments=0 Average fragments per file=1.00
Paging File fragmentation Paging/Swap file size=1,440 MB Total fragments=1
Directory fragmentation Total directories=8,528 Fragmented directories=0 Excess directory fragments=0
Master File Table (MFT) fragmentation Total MFT size=117 MB MFT record count=100,106 Percent MFT in use=83 % Total MFT fragments=3Then you are good to go...the pauses and quick moves at certain % points are completely normal....
