Solve : Does "standby" cause you problems?? |

Answer» When I put my computer on Standby, I sometimes have problems with my NETWORK/internet connection (linksys/Cisco router to switch to cable modem). Sometimes the machine just slows to a crawl. The problems are intermittent and inconsistent. Does anyone else have this issue? (The solution is to shut down and restart, not too difficult.) I have the same problem as the one described by you. Instead of shutting down/restarting, can you try the FOLLOWING: ... my network/internet connection (linksys/Cisco router to switch to cable modem).Three devices? Not that this has anything to do with the Standby problem, but why do you need a switch between your router and modem? I have a Notebook PC and a desktop networked via a router. I use Standby on the desktop and Sleep on the Notebook. I haven't had a problem with speed upon wakeup, as you have. But, I have discovered one minor problem that arises when the desktop goes into Standby. The problem is that the Notebook drops the network connection with the desktop when it goes into Standby and then won't recognize it when the desktop is awakened from Standby. To resolve this, it seems I have to restart one system or the other. Still, as long I do not experience other problems from using Standby and Sleep, I do not think I'll stop using them. And, with a laptop or notebook, if you sometimes run them off the battery, using Sleep mode to conserve energy is a given, isn't it?I AGREE. In case of laptops, it makes sense, as long, as the feature works. Quote I have the same problem as the one described by you. Instead of shutting down/restarting, can you try the following: ITS ENTER IPCONFIG/FLUSHDNSYou enter the command: IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS There is a SPACE after "IPCONFIG" |
