Answer» I have as custom built computer, with windows xp. My computer is supposed to have a 2.4GHz pentium 4 processor, but it has decreased to 1.7 GHz. I have no idea how this happened. I really don't want to pay 100 bucks just to get it checked, so if anyone ACAN help and tell me how to fix it I would be really thankful. I don't KNOW what other info. you need but you can help me out on thatoldguiser...... Did it ever display that it was a 2.4ghz ? Its possible the MACHINE was never set up properly . dl65 YEAH it did say 2.4 ghz. is there any way of restoring it back to a 2.4ghz. I.ve tried system restore but still does go back to a 2.4 Have you done any monkeying about in the case? What computer or MOTHERBOARD make/model? Usually the processor is set automatically or with a jumper depending on brand.
