Answer» Hey people, how u doin?
Anyway, I downloaded a font and extracted it to the FONTS folder under Windows but it won't work on Microsoft Word. It won't appear in the font list and when I type it in it comes up with "The font RockSteady is not available on your SYSTEM".
So, I was wondering if any of you all could help me. I would really appreciate it. Gracias! Can you tell me/us where to download it so that I/we can try it?SURE. There's a couple of sites.

Pick "Rock Steady"Is it a VALID true type font?Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is.I downloaded the RockSteady font from http://www.justnodoubt.net/media/fonts.html, saved it to my Desktop, extracted it to the same folder (on the Desktop), then installed it in the Fonts folder in the Windows folder (F:\WINDOWS\Fonts, on my system) by dragging it with my mouse from Desktop folder to the Fonts folder. I then opened Word 2003 to see whether it recognized the font. It did.
Have you verified that it is in your Fonts folder? If you double click on it, does it open in a separate panel?Yes, it does open in a separate panel and all SEEMS fine but when I try to use it on Word it won't work. I'm running on Word 2000 though.OK, I just opened Word to try again. I went up to FORMAT>>>Font and typed in "RockSteady". It came up with "This font has not been installed. The closest available font will be printed."
So now I have no idea what to do.TragicKingdom92..... It is a true value font ...... I just D/l it and put it into the Windows Font folder ....... works just fine here .
dl65 TragicKingdom92...... Exactly how are you getting the new font style into the appropriate folder ?
dl65 Quote Yes, it does open in a separate panel and all seems fine but when I try to use it on Word it won't work. I'm running on Word 2000 though. I just started my Win 98SE machine and downloaded the RockSteady font. It worked fine in Word 97.
Are you having this problem with any font you download? I presume you get the same result if you try using RockSteady with Excel, PowerPoint, etc.have you try to uninstall or delete your recent d/l fonts?
try that first and try to reinstall themHere's an alternative suggestion:
Save the font file on your desktop. Browse to the Windows font folder. Go to file-->install. In the installation dialogue box, ensure "copy to windows folder" is check. Then browse to your desktop. Double click the font in the list. Click OK as many times as is necessary. Voila.OK, problem noveau. There's no "install" button under file when I'm in the fonts folder.Uh-oh. What version of Windows are you using? How many fonts do you already have installed?
