Answer» Integrated sound, drivers are installed but not started. CHECKED bios/cmos, uninstalled/reinstalled, updated. nothing works, any help would be great. Thanks. running xp.would really like to have sound.Have it WORKED before?yes, about 2 months ago. system restore does not go back far enough to fixHave you installed something before prior to this? noDoes your XP detects your AUDIO device? No question MARKS on Device Manager?
What's the model of your motherboard? It would also help us if we knew the manufacturer and model number of your computer.a friend came by & dropped off a motherboard only, turned out to be a Toshiba V3100., Whatever that is. Can't find it on web.I do not have the history on this motherboard, nor do i know of its components., But the sound did work on it. Replaced desktop speakers. Microphone does not work either. The Toshiba V3100 is the model number of a desktop manufactured by Toshiba.
Based on a search of their Support pages, I found the following link to driver downlaods for that particular model.
Here's the link: Available Drivers for Toshiba V3100
I certainly hope the link provides you with the drivers you need in order to get the sound working again.I APPRECIATE all your help, but the drivers on that link are older than what i have. I just don't understand why windows says drivers are installed but have not been started. Confused and left out...Have you tried running services.msc from the Start/Run menu to see if the Windows Audio Service has been started? There are several items not starting, modules missing, start &stopping, windows audio says device not functioning., device manager states no problems....but have you tried restarting the Windows Audio Service? Missing modules...items not functioning...sounds like a corrupt operating system.
Have you tried a repair installation? Do you have any important items that need to be backed up?
To me...a repair installation and/or a clean install may fix the problem.
I'd probably set the BIOS to defaults, first, then do a clean install...but, hey...that's just me.Do you have Windows XP CD?
