Who re-installed it for you ?Hi yes i have two cd drives on the computer the burner is labeled hp dvd writer 400I i cant open it (i have to use a paper clip and there is nothing on the device manager to indicate i have a burner i used to work intill i had to get my puters windows reinsalled now...........nothin its like it wasnt there Sounds like the ribbon cable has come loose...check inside.
As always remove all power sources when working inside the machine and take anti-static precautions.Ok i will try that talk to you in a bit thanks for the help hopfully it works!!!!!lol lol Hey whats anti static protection? Just make sure you are grounded. DONT walk across a fluffy carpet in slippers and reach in and grab a stick of RAM for instance...
They sell wrist straps but usually it is enough to be touching the METAL chassis with one hand.
