Solve : dvd help needed?

Answer»

ok here's the story...I PUT in an ide card to handle my 2 cd's/dvd BURNERS...( well I didn't a company did )... aanyhoo the dvd is the only ONE I care to use so I TOOK it off the card and hooked it up to my second hdd as a slave...now when i go into XPpro device manager it shows up with an exclamation mark beside it saying that " A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)" So when I had the card installed it showed the ide dvd listed as a scsi dvd and I think the registry won't let it go back to an ide dvd...can anyone help? please?Let me get this straight, you put the dvd drive on the same cable as the HD? First of all that's not really recommended. Yeah, you can do it, but it can affect PERFORMANCE of the HD. Anyway, as to your question, Microsoft suggests that you uninstall drivers, scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade drivers.

Here's what they say:

The start type for this driver is set to disabled in the registry. Uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard. If the driver is required, and if reinstalling or upgrading does not work, change the start type in the registry using Registry Editor. For more information, see the Registry Reference in the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit at:

I'll do a little more searching on the subject, but I hope that helps.Okay, I did bit more searching and found a site that may help with your problem:

It's a Mircosoft support section.

That's all I have for now, hope you get your problem solved. I hate when things don't work right.
