Answer» My dvd drive is stuck on region 1. I want to change it BACK to region 2. According to my dvd I have 1 change LEFT remaining to do this and yet it won't change. I have tried going through device manager but when I come to change it I get an error message that tells me to check that I have Administrator privileges and that there is region 2 media in the drive.
According to my user account I am logged in as an administrator (I have checked to see whether it is disabled but it's not) and I have put a region 2 dvd in the drive - neither seems to work. I have also checked the Administrator account and logged into my computer in safe mode on the Administrator account to see if that would work but it doesn't. Up until this point I have had no problems switching between regions.
Can anyone help?
I have and Acer Aspire 5600 LAPTOP which runs WINDOWS XP. ORIGINALLY bought in Canada but I now live in UK (hence region problems). My dvd driver is Phillips DVD-RAM SDVD8821 and I tend to play my dvds through CyberLink Power Dvd.Is your DVD drive playing region 1 dvd's with no problem?
You can try this:
Get Anydvd: http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html.
AnyDVD software removes the region protection from DVD movie disks in the background when you insert a DVD and AnyDVD detects it.
This means, your computer will read the DVD as if it's regionless and has no region restrictions.
This should allow you to playback DVD's of incorrect region codes even if your DVD player is stuck at one specific region code.
(This can get you to playback the region 2 DVD's you want to play, but it doesn't solve the problem of why your DVD drive is stuck at region 1 with 1 region change still available)Yep - it's reading region 1 dvds no problem. It's just the changing regions which is the issue.
Ideally I want to be able to change the region permanently but I will try the download you suggested in the meantime.
Thank you!
