Solve : Dynamic versus Basic Disk? |
|
Answer» HELLO Folks, I am trying to get a multi-OS system going on my computer. The OS selector software tells me that it doesn't like the dynamic disk I have SET up (although I had no idea Win 7 had partitioned my disk as dynamic), and it doesn't deal with dynamic disks. 1- For a regular user, is there any advantages in using dynamic disk configuration? 2- Would converting from Dynamic to Basic cause any disadvantages/deficiencies? Thank you ziloo Unless you know the answer already, you should start with BASIC disc. What are basic and dynamic disks? Quote Basic disks and dynamic disks are two types of hard disk configurations in Windows. Most personal computers are configured as basic disks, which are the simplest to manage. Advanced users and IT professionals can make use of dynamic disks, which use multiple hard disks within a computer to manage data, usually for increased performance or reliability. The above says essentially what I just said. If you don't know, go basic. Very simplified THEORY: In professional scenarios, there are disparate programs, users and demands placed on a computer system. The dynamic disc can optimize performance by improvement of SPEED in real-time. Does that help?Thank you very much Geek-9pm On another note using another browser, I got a message that says: "Sorry ziloo, you are banned from using this forum! Spam This ban is not set to expire." Can somebody explain to me what is going on What have I done to deserve such condemnation ziloo ziloo. can't help you with that. What Forum and what ban ? ?Well Patio.....I just logged in and I wasn't rejected !!!! Don't know what happened but whatever it was, I am glad it was resolved (I HOPE! ). Thanks to everybody ziloo |
