I have just installed a new printer on my computer, it is a Canon Pixma iP2000. Most of the packages and the printer itself have installed fine. The only problem I have had is installing the Canon PhotoRecord application.

When I try to install, I get the following error message:

Could not open key:
UNKNOWN\Installer\UpgradeCode\190C0016C606A914286804B5269E4B11. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

I have looked in the user manual and have looked on the Canon website for HELP but none of their TROUBLESHOOTING sections mention anything like this. I was trying to install some Digital Photo Album FREEWARE yesterday and I got a similar message.

My computer specifications are also up to what is required for the installation of all the applications and drivers so I'm a bit mystified.

As always any help would be greatly appreciated.

My specs (a bit crap I know!):
Win ME
127 MB RAM
Intel Celeron Processor
AVG Anti-Virus (Free Edition)

JessicaB ......... I have just reviewed the install manuals ...... for your printer.
Question , did you remember to turn off your anti- virus before attempting to install the "PhotoRecord" application ?

If you didnt do this , I would uninstall everything, turn off your AV and do a complete reinstall of the printer.

dl65 I've just done what you suggested and disabled the anti-virus and reinstalled and I still receive the same error message but only with the Photo Record Software again.Ok ....... then I guess it's time to do this......
